I have made a change to the succession box. Bishop John has ''not'' succeeded to Bishop Alexander's see of Buenos Aires, but has been consecrated with title of Bishop of Caracas instead--so the ROCOR see of Buenos Aires is technically vacant. I imagine Bishop John wasn't consecrated Bishop of Buenos Aires because the Moscow Patriarchate already has a Bishop there, Metropolitan Platon (Udovenko), and they're trying to avoid doubling up sees. --[[User:Voxstefani|Esteban]] 20:26, March 9, 2009 (UTC)

There was a long period before Bishop Alexander was consecrated in which the South American Diocese had no bishop of its own. If you look on the Synod Web Page right now, you will see that Archbishop Hilarion is visiting the various parishes of South America. The parishes in South America have unfortunately been in decline for some time because they did not make the transition into Spanish, most of their children no longer go, and they have not been replaced by enough large influxes of new Russian immigrants. Bishop Alexander was trying to reverse those trends, but now we need someone else with his abilities and vision. Frjohnwhiteford 04:25, February 11, 2008 (PST)
