Alexander Stavropoulos was born in 1959 in the town of Vlachiotis in Laconia in the southeastern Peloponnese. After completing his basic education, Alexander attended the [[Athonias Ecclesiastical Academy]] at [[Mount Athos]]. After graduating, he attended and graduated from the Theological School of the University of Athens.
In 1982, Alexander was [[ordination|ordained]] a [[deacon]] by Archbishop [[Seraphim (Tikas) of Athens|Seraphim]] of Athens and given the name Chrysostomos. Dcn. Chrysostomos was ordained a [[priest]] in 1987 and appointed the [[chancellor]] of the [[Metropolis of Monemvasia and Sparta]]. Father Chrysostomos was elected to the [[episcopate]] in 2007 and [[enthronement|enthroned]] as metropolitan of the Metropolis of Triphylia and Olympia on [[March 17]], 2007 succeeding the retired Metr.
