==Life==
===Early years===
Bishop Anthony was born Richard Anthony Michaels on January 17, 1956, in Ironwood, Michigan to a Lebanese father and a Serbian mother and raised in the Church. After high school, he attended the University of Michigan for his undergrad and afterwards, he attended [[St. Vladimir's Orthodox Theological Seminary (Crestwood, New York)|St. Vladimir's Orthodox Theological Seminary]] near New York City, graduating valedictorian of his class.

Following seminary, Bp. Anthony was part of the Orthodox singing group Kerygma, along with some of his fellow classmates from St. Vladimir's.

===Priesthood===
In September of 2004, he was [[ordination|ordained]] to the diaconate and priesthood by His Grace [[Antoun (Khoury) of Miami|Bishop Antoun]]. After helping out at his home parish for a few months, Fr. Anthony was assigned to St. John Chrysostom Anthiochian Orthodox Church in Fort Wayne, Indiana, where he served until his election as bishop.

===Episcopacy===
In 2011, at the convention of the Antiochian Orthodox Christian Archdiocese of North America, Fr. Anthony was elected as one of three new auxiliary bishops, and assigned to the diocese of Toledo and the Midwest.

After this decision was accepted by the Holy Synod of Antioch, Fr. Anthony and the other two bishops-elect, Fr. John Abdalah and Fr. Nicholas Ozone, were consecrated at the [[Monastery of Our Lady of Balamand|Balamand Monastery]] on December 11th, 2011.
