Holy Myrrh-bearer Salome is celebrated on her feast day on August 3. She was the mother of the Apostle James (son of Zebedee) and Apostle John (son of Zebedee, the wife of Zebedee, and the daughter of Joseph the Betrothed (by his first wife--who was a widower when he became betrothed to the Theotokos.) She was a disciple of Jesus and one of the Myrrh-bearing women who first brought tidings of the Resurrection to the world.
