The Refectory in Orthodox Church usage generally refers to the dining room in monasteries. These dining facilities are also called Trapeza.

While the refectory may be a free standing building, at times the dining hall is joined to an extension of the building in which altar is placed as in regular church buildings. An example is the Trapeza at the Holy Trinity-St. Sergius Lavra north of Moscow, Russia.
