== Biography Life==Born in 1926into a Roman-Catholic family, Father Placide first became a [[monk ]] of the Cistercian [[Abbey ]] of Bellefontaine in 1942, at the age of sixteen.
In search of the authentic sources of Christianity and [[monasticism]], he founded in 1966 , with friends who were also monks , a [[monastery ]] of the Byzantine Rite in Aubazine in Corrèze.
In 1977 , the monks decided to become OrthodoxChristians. They are received into the Orthodox Church on [[June 19]], 1977 and . In February 1978, they became monks of at [[Simonopetra Monastery (Athos)|Simonopetra Monastery]] at [[Mount Athos]] Simonos Petra. Returned Returning to France shortly afterthereafter, Father Fr. Placide founded established the monastery of St. Anthony the Great, at Saint-Laurent-en-Royans (Drôme) in the Vercors, and became the becoming its [[abbot]].
He has taught patristics at the Orthodox [[St. Sergius Orthodox Theological Institute (Paris, France)|Saint-Serge St. Sergius Orthodox Theological Institute]] in Paris.
