His Grace Bishop Philip (Koutoufas) of Atlanta (23 February 1929, Lixouri Kefalonia - 29 December 1995)

In 1954 he graduated from Theological Faculty of the University of Athens.

He was Ordained to the priesthood by the Archbishop Iakovos in 1960.

Father Philip served the parish of St. Gerasimos, Manhattan, New York for ten years. While at St. Gerasimos, Father Phiiip continued his education towards his PhD at Bridgeport University, Bridgeport, Connecticut and Adelphi University of Garden City, Long Island, New York.

In Febyrary 1973 Father Philip was appointed as pastor to Holy Cross Church, Belmont. This parish serves the area from San Bruno to San Jose.

On August 1, 1982 he was ordained titular Bishop Dafnousion, Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese.

On April 2, 1992 he was elected Bishop of Atlanta.

He passed away on 29 December 1995.
