Panteleimon (Shatov) is the Russian Orthodox Bishop of Smolensk and Vyazma and chairman of the Synodal Department for Church Charity and Social Ministry, Russian Orthodox Church.

Born Arkady Viktorovich Shatov (Аркадий Викторович Шатов) September 18, 1950 in Moscow.

In 1977 he entered the Moscow Theological Seminary, he was adopted immediately in the second year.

On August 26, 1978 Archbishop Vladimir (now Metropolitan of Kiev and All Ukraine) ordained a deacon.

Moved to the correspondence department of the Moscow Theological Seminary and was sent first to the parish service in Moscow and then to the Moscow oblast in the temple in village Nikolo-Arkhangelskoye.

April 15, 1979 on the feast of the Lord's Entrance into Jerusalem Metropolitan of Krutitsy and Kolomna Juvenal ordained him a priest and appointed rector of Trinity Church in village Golochelovo, Moscow oblast.

In 1984 he transferred as second priest to the temple of Tikhvin icon in Stupino. In 1987 in transferred temple of Smolensk icon in village Grebnevo.

In November 1990 he was appointed rector of Saint Prince Dimitry at the First City Clinical Hospital (Pervaya Gradskaya bolnitsa). Under the church was founded St. Dimitry Sisterhood.

In 1992 with the blessing of Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Alexy II was discovered St. Dimitry Sisters of Mercy School (founders: the government of Moscow and St. Dimitry Sisterhood), fr Arkady became the spiritual father of the school.

In 2002 he was appointed chairman of the church social activities at the Diocesan Council in Moscow. Since 2005, the Deputy Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Hospital of St. Alexis, Metropolitan of Moscow.

The Holy Synod on March 5, 2010 appointed him Chairman of the Synodal Department for Church Charity and Social Service.

The Holy Synod on May 31, 2010 was elected him vicar of the Moscow diocese with the title bishop of Orekhovo-Zuyevo.

July 17, 2010 in the Patriarch's house church quarters Trinity-Sergius Monastery, Patriarch Kirill tonsured him a little schema and named in honor of St. Panteleimon the Great Martyr and Healer.

July 18, 2010 he was elevated to the rank of Archimandrite.

August 20, 2010 was named as bishop, on August 21 he was consecrated Bishop of Orekhovo-Zuyevo, vicar of the Moscow diocese.

From December 2010 to 2011 supervised parish churches in the North-Eastern Administrative District of Moscow (Trinity Deanery).

March 22, 2011 he became member of the Supreme Ecclesiastical Council of the Russian Orthodox Church (as head of the Synodal Department for Church Charity and Social Service).

Holy Synod on March 22, 2011 appointed him bishop of Smolensk and Vyazma, keeping the post of Chairman of the Synodal Department for Church Charity and Social Service.

The Holy Synod from 5-6 October 2011 confirmed him as abbot Avraamy Transfiguration Monastery in Smolensk.

A widower, has four married daughters and 14 grandchildren.
