Panagia Eleousa is also mainly known as the Virgin of Tender Mercy and often compared to the Virgin of Loving Kindness. The difference between the two icons is that in the Eleousa, the Virgin Mary holds Christ on her right arm, and the Child Christ touches his mothers face and wraps one arm around her neck or shoulder.
