Nikiforos (Archagelidis) of Didymotichon

'His Eminence Nikiforos (Archagelidis) of Didymotichon was the Metropolitan of the Metropolis of Didymotichon, Orestias and Soufli under the administration of the Church of Greece. The Metropolis of Didymotichon, Orestias and Soufli is a metropolis in the New Lands of Greece, under the jurisdiction of the Ecumenical Patriarchate. [1]. He was the ruling hierarch of the metropolis from 1988 to 2009.

Life

Athanassios Archagelidis was born in 1931 in Feres, Evros in Greek Thrace. He received his theological education at the Aristotle University of Thessalonica and the Theological School of Halki. Upon his entry to the Holy Orders he received the name Nikiforos. He was elected to the episcopacy and consecrated Metropolitan of Didymotichon, Orestias and Soufli in 1988. Metr. Nikiforos reposed on October 4, 2009 and was succeeded by Metr. Damaskinos (Karpathakis) in 2009.[2]
