Nicholas (Timiadis) of Amathounta

The future [[Bishop]] Nicholas was born on [[October 2]], 1969 in the village of Avgorou in the Famagusta district of the Republic of Cyprus. He attended Ayios Georgios Lyceum in Larnaca, graduating in 1987. He continued his education at the Theological Faculty of the Aristotle University in Tessalonica, Greece from 1987 until his graduation in 1991. He continued with postgraduate work at the Aristotle University in the field of Systematic Theology.
In 1992, after completing his education he entered the St. Nicholas [[Monastery]], also known as the Priest's Monastery, in Paphos joining with other brothers under the instruction of [[Hieromonk]] [[Athanasios of LimassoLimassol|Athanasios]]. He was [[tonsure]]d a [[monk]] at the [[monastery]]. In November 1993, the whole monastic community moved to Machaira's Machairas Monastery where he was a member of the Council of Abbots of the monastery from 1996 to 2003.
On Lazarus Saturday 1994, Fr. Nicholas received his tonsure as a rassaphore monk. In 1999, Fr. Nicholas was [[ordination|ordained]] a [[deacon]] by [[Bishop]] Vasilios of Trimithounta. His Grace, Bishop Athanasios of Limassol ordained Dn. Nicholas a [[priest]] in 1999.
