'''Misotheism''' (μισόθεος a compound of μίσος "hatred" and θεός "god") is the hating the gods, or hatred of God. The term has its origin in Aeschylus' depiction of Prometheus in ''Prometheus Bound'' and ''Prometheus Unbound''. Prometheus professed hatred of the gods because of their punishment of him for bringing fire to humankind. "Misotheist" is the expression given to a person who blames God for negative experiences within that person's life that result in a spitefulness towards God. It can also be a expression of distain disdain for the teachings of God, or when one believes that God is unjust or evil.
