Laura of Cordoba
Holy martyr Saint Laura was born in Cordoba and lived in Muslim Spain during the 9th century. Following the death of her husband she left the world to become a nun at Cuteclara and eventually became abbess. Laura was martyred by Muslims in 864 under the rule of Al-Andalu, who took her captive and scalded her to death by placing her in a vat of boiling lead. She is numbered among the 48 Holy Martyrs of Cordoba. Her feast day is October 19.
