He entered the Monastery of St. Paul at Mount Athos from high school and was tonsured a monk, receiving the name Kyrillos. He then enrolled in the Theological School of the University of Athens and also attended courses at its Philosophical Faculty. Additionally, he had entered the Holy Orders.
