Metr. Kyrillos (Chrystakis) was born in 1938 in Kollines, Arcadia in the central part of the Peloponnese peninsula of Greece. He entered the [[Holy Orders]] when he was [[ordination|ordained]] [[deacon]] in 1959. He studied at the School of Theology of the University of Athens, graduating in 1969, the year he was also ordained a [[priest]]. After graduating, Fr. Kyrillos served as a [[missionary]] priest in East Africa and the Far East. In 1998, Fr. Kyrillos was elected to the[[episcopate]] and [[consecration of a bishop|consecrated]] on [[October 18]] as the Metropolitan of Kythira .
