His Grace, the Most Reverend Job (Smakouz), Bishop of Kashira, Vicar of the Moscow Diocese, is the Administrator of the Russian Orthodox Church Parishes in Canada that are directly under the canonical authority of the Church of Russia.

Life

Born Victor Fyodorovich Smakouz on February 19, 1964, into the family of a priest in the town of Pochaev, Kremenetsk District, Ternopol Region, Victor attended the parish churches of Pochaev before entering Pochaev Monastery. During the period 1984 to 1986, he fulfilled his military obligation before he attended the Leningrad Theological Seminary. After his graduation in 1987, he entered the St. Petersburg Theological Academy from which he graduated in 1991 with a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Theology.

Upon his graduation Victor was assigned to the Metropolitan of Kiev as a teacher. He was also made an assistant inspector and secretary of the Kiev Theological Academy administration. In 1992, he became secretary of the Academic council of the Kiev Academy and superintendent dean of the Academic Church of the Nativity in the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra while he continued teaching as a seminary teacher.

On August 25, 1991, Victor, a celibate, was ordained a deacon. Then two days later, on August 27, he was ordained a priest. In 1995, Fr. Victor was raised to the dignity of archpriest. On April 17, 1997, Fr. Victor was tonsured a monk with the name Job (Iov). On June 13, 1997, Fr. Job was elevated to the dignity of archimandrite. On June 22, 1997, Archim. Job was elected Bishop of Kherson and Tauria, in Ukraine, and consecrated bishop was on August 19, 1997 in the Refectory church of the Venerable Fathers Antony and Theodosius of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra. On March 30, 1999, Bp.
