Ivan Ladizinsky
Rev. Ivan Alexander Ladizinsky (b 29 December 1905, Jarabina, Slovakia - d September 1976, Pennsylvania, United States) was a priest in the American Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Diocese. He was also the author of Karpatorossy v Europi i Ameriki, primir Kamionka (Carpatho-Rusyns in Europe and America, the Example of [the Village] of Kamionka), which is one of the few books published that deals exclusively with Carpatho-Russian (Rusyn) customs and immigration to America.
Life
Rev. Ivan Ladizinsky was born on December 29, 1905 in Jarabina, which is now part of Slovakia, though at the time of his birth was part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. He attended the Presov Seminary and was ordained a Greek Catholic priest. He worked as a teacher before coming to the United States in 1930, and worked as a teacher or church teacher after settling in Cleveland, Ohio. In Cleveland, he was a leader in the American Russian National Brotherhood, and became editor of their newspaper Rodina. Later, he headed a political organization called "Carpatho-Russian Unity" and edited their paper "Jedinstvo". It was in 1940 that his book Karpatorossy v Europi i Ameriki, primir Kamionka was published in Cleveland.
Fr. Ladizinsky became part of the American Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Diocese and served parishes in Indiana and in Dusquesne, Pennsylvania.
