Ignatios (Sennis) of Antananarivo

His Grace, Ignatios was born in Corinth in 1951. He was educated in Corinth, having received a degree as a Foreman Mechanic, as well as a degree from the St. Nicholas Orthodox Theological Seminary. He also attended the Theological Faculty of the University of Thessaloniki from which he also received a degree. Bishop Ignatios speaks English, Korean, and Indian in addition to his native Greek.
In 1976, he was [[ordination|ordained]] a [[deacon]] and then a [[priest]] by Metropolitan Panteleimon of Corinth. He was [[tonsure]]d a [[monk]] at the Monastery of [[Stavronikita Monastery (Athos)|Stravronikita]] on [[Mount Athos]]. From 1985, Fr. Ignatios served as a [[missionary]] in Korea for six years, followed by fourteen years service as a missionary in Western Bengal in India. Because of the effectiveness of his missionary efforts he was dismissed from India in June 2004.  In October 2004, he was elected Bishop of [[Madagascar ]] following the repose of Bp. Nektarios in a helicopter accident enroute to [[Mount Athos]] and consecrated on [[November 14]], 2004 in Alexandria by [[Theodoros II (Choreftakis) of Alexandria|Patriarch Theodoros II]]. Since arriving he has undertaken the restoration of the churches, the theological seminary, and other infrastructure in Madagascar.
