Bishop James or Iakovos (secular name George Pililis, Greek: Γεώργιος Πηλίλης) is retired bishop of Catania

Biography

Born on August 10, 1927 at Megara, Greece.

He studied Theology, Philosophy, Comparative Religion and Byzantine and Ecclesiastical History at the University of Athens, in London, at Fordham University, and Columbia University in New York. After excellent and brilliant studies, he was awarded the degree "Master of Arts" and the degree "Doctor of Philosophy".

On 21 May 1967 he was ordained titular Bishop of Catania, Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of North and South America.

He was Vicar for the Archdiocese in Houston (1967-1970), in Buenos Aires (1970-1974) and in Charlotte (1974-1977).

In 1977 he withdrew from active ecclesical service.
