Bishop Gennadius was born Mikhail Borisovich Gogolev on 10 March 1967 in Leningrad, USSR. After serving in the Armed Forces of the USSR in 1986, Mikhail entered the St. Petersburg Theological Seminary in 1987, graduating with top honors in 1990 and being ordained to the priesthood. Fr. Mikhail promptly entered the St. Petersburg Theological Academy, graduating in 1994.

His Grace Bishop Gennadius (Gogolev) of Kaskelen is an auxiliary bishop of the Eparchy of Astana and Almaty, one of the constituent dioceses of the Russian Orthodox Church's Metropolia of Kazakhstan.

Life

Bishop Gennadius was born Mikhail Borisovich Gogolev on March 10, 1967 in Leningrad, USSR. After serving in the Armed Forces of the USSR in 1986, Mikhail entered the St. Petersburg Theological Seminary in 1987, graduating with top honors in 1990 and being ordained to the priesthood. Fr. Mikhail promptly entered the St. Petersburg Theological Academy, graduating in 1994.
