His Eminence Ephraim (Stenakis) of Hydra, Spetses and Aegina is the Metropolitan of the Metropolis of Hydra, Spetses and Aegina under the jurisdiction of the Church of Greece. He has served as the ruling hierarch of the metropolis since 2001.

Life

Evangelos Stenakis was born in 1948 in Kypselis of the island of Aegina in Greece, one of the Saronic Islands near Athens. He received his education through the Church of St. Mary and attended the Corinth School. He studied at the Theological School of the University of Athens from which he graduated.

He entered the Holy Orders in 1973 when he was ordained deacon, with the name Ephraim, and then priest. He was elevated to the dignity of archimandrite in 1979. He served as Chancellor of the Metropolis of Hydra, Spetses, and Aegina and Abbot of the Monastery of the Holy Life-Giving Fountain in Poros.

In 2001, Archim. Ephraim was elected to the episcopate by the Holy Synod of the Church of Greece. He was consecrated Metropolitan of the Metropolis of Hydra, Spetses, and Aegina on January 14, 2001.
