Bishop ==Life==Demetrios T. Makris began his career was born and educated in EuboiaGreece, Greecewhere he also entered the [[Holy Orders]]. He Came Father Demetrios emigrated to the United States of America in 1938 and Worcester (MA.) in 1940. He was also assistant to the archbishop of North America, based in New York City. He was later bishop of the former diocese of New England and the former Diocese of California.
He also taught at the Greek Orthodox Seminary in Pomfret, Connecticut, the predecessor institution to [[ImageHoly Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology (Brookline, Massachusetts)|Greek Orthodox School of Theology]] in Brookline, Massachusetts, becoming a full time professor and then assistant dean. Fr. Demetrios was subsequently named [[chancellor]] of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of North and South America On [[September 14]], 1951, Fr. Demetrios was [[consecration of a bishop|consecrated]] [[Bishop]] of the Titular [[See]] of Olympus and served the First Archdiocesan District that included Maryland, New York, New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Washington, D.C. From 1955 to 1968, Bishop Demetrios served as the bishop of the fourth district of San Francisco.
