He served as Bishop of Olympus in Boston, Massachusetts and in San Francisco, California.
Bishop ==Life==Demetrios T. Makris began his career was born and educated in EuboiaGreece, Greecewhere he also entered the [[Holy Orders]]. He Came Father Demetrios emigrated to the United States of America in 1938 and Worcester (MA.) in 1940. He was Pastor of assigned to St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church in Worcester, Massachusetts in 1940, serving until 1944, and also taught . Bishop Makris Fr. Demetrios was elevated to Bishop in subsequently named [[chancellor]] of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of North and South America On [[September 14]], 1951, with Fr. Demetrios was [[consecration of a bishop|consecrated]] [[Bishop]] of the title Bishop Titular [[See]] of Olympus (Olympos), and served a diocese the First Archdiocesan District that included Maryland, New York, New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania , and Washington, D.C. He was also assistant From 1955 to 1968, Bishop Demetrios served as the archbishop of North America, based in New York City. He was later bishop of the former diocese fourth district of New England and San Francisco.
