Barnabas of Trimithounta

His Eminence, the Most Reverend Barnabas of Trimithounta, is the ruling hierarch of the Metropolis of Trimithounta of the Church of Cyprus.

Life

Metr. Barnabas was born in the city of Limassol on the southern coast of the Cyprus on January 10, 1958. After completing school locally, Metr. Barnabas entered the Theological Faculty of Thessalonica University from which he graduated in 1980. Upon his return to Cyprus he joined the brotherhood of Stavrovouni Monastery in 1981 and, in 1983, was given the Great Schema.

After his ordination as deacon in 1983, Metr. Barnabas was ordained a priest in 1985. On July 20, 2007, he was elected Bishop of Trimithounta. His consecration was the next day, July 21, at the Church of Panayia Evangelistria in the town of Pallouriotissa, followed during the same day with his enthronement at the Church of Panayia Evangelistria in the village of Dhali.
