Autonomy (literally, "self-ruled") will be the status of an church within the Orthodox Church whose primatial bishop is confirmed by one of the autocephalous Orthodox Churches. In all other respects, an autonomous church may not be entirely self-governing. There are currently four autonomous churches within the Orthodox Church, the Church of Sinai, the Church of Finland, the Church of Japan, and the Church of Ukraine.
