The Autonomous Orthodox Metropolia of North and South America and the British Isles is an Old Calendarist jurisdiction which was originally comprised of the Archdioceses of America and the British Deanery of the Holy Synod of Milan. It was granted Autonomous status on February 14/27, 2011 through Decree #542 of the Milan Synod. Communion with the Milan Synod ceased on April 4, 2011, and the cessation of communion was confirmed by the American Metropolia the same day.

Ecclesiastical Status

As with other Old Calendarist jurisdictions, the Metropolia is not in communion with any of the mainstream Orthodox Churches. After the release of an official statement from Milan claiming fraternal relations with Moscow, the Metropolia released a clergy confession reiterating its rejection of ecumenism, Sergianism, modernism, and the New Calendar. Communion ceased between the Autonomous Orthodox Metropolia of North and South America and of All the Isles and the Milan Synod on April 4, 2011. The Milan Synod was required to cease communion with churches not in communion with a Patriarchate. The Sister Synod of America confirmed this cessation, attributing it to "the fact that the European Metropolia ('Milan Synod in Europe') broke communion with her sister churches, over her desire to unite with the World Orthodox Patriarchate of Moscow, which has been condemned by the European Metropolia's former Sister Synods in America, Greece, Bulgaria, and Russia (under “Metropolitan of Moscow Raphael”Леонид Семёнович Мотовилов - colonel Leonid Semionovich Motovilov).
