His Beatitude, Athanasius V of Jerusalem was the Patriarch of the Church of Jerusalem from 1827 to 1845.

Life

Little is available about his life. In 1838, during his patriarchate that he maintained in residence in Constantinople, Patr. Athanasius bought the collected works of liturgical music rendered in the new method of Byzantine notation by Chourmouzios the Archivist, the Chartophylax of the Great Church in Constantinople. The collection consisted of seventy volumes that were retained by the Church of Jerusalem.
