The our father among the saints Alexander I of Rome was the third in succession after the Apostle Peter as bishop of Rome, probably during the years 105 to 115. His life is largely legendary. Apparently elected bishop as a twenty year old, his identification as bishop of Rome is based upon various documents of questionable accuracy written in the centuries after his repose. He may have been a martyr. He is commemorated on March 16.
