As far as I understand things, even though the painting itself may be considered "public domain", reproductions of these works may be copyrighted. IMHO someone should contact the site owner for permission or to understand the use — FrJohn (talk)

This image is from Wikipedia and also found on Wikimedia Commons, which notes that "The two-dimensional work of art depicted in this image is in the public domain worldwide due to the date of death of its author, or due to its date of publication. Thus, this reproduction of the work is also in the public domain. This applies to reproductions created in the United States (see Bridgeman Art Library v. Thanks for looking into this! I do think we should give Wikipedia as the main source instead of the other sites. Fr. John
